Vintage Midcentury Modern Art Pottery Charger, Dish Plate by Marjatta Taburet. Handcrafted in Quimper Britain France. 1960's. Hand-painted & signed one of a kind decorative ceramic charger created by listed artist master potter in Quimper Marjatta Taburet born in 1931, Helsinki, Finland.
This glazed hand-painted stoneware dish is typical of her work with a beautiful polychrome decor in turquoise and oranges with pinks, blues, yellows, and greens form a wonderful image of flowers and an exotic peacock .
After apprenticing at Arabia ceramics in Finland, she moved to Paris to study in 1950. Eventually graduating from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1959. She worked at Quimper from 1967-1984 until opening her own studio with her husband Jean Claude Taburet renowned listed potter as well.
She's the author of the book "La Faience de Quimper".
This dish is a wonderful work of glazing and firing, it is also in excellent condition. Signed by Marjatta Taburet HB Quimper, circa 1960.
She's the author of the book "La Faience de Quimper". A similar plate is referenced in the Encyclopedia of Quimper pottery tome V page 412. Measures about 26cm x 26cm. In very good condition, one chip at the back of the plate (see picture).
